All Choked Up

I’m not a big fan of eating artichokes, though they are one of my wife’s favorite foods. I am, however, fascinated with their complex surface and the way the leaves nestle into one another. I find them an enjoyable challenge to paint.

Description:

An uncooked freshly washed artichoke ready for the pot. A bit past it’s prime as the brown leaves suggest. Resting on a wooden cutting board, in shadow, and against a black background.

6″ x 6″ oil on board

(Framed size: 12″ x 12″)
